Marketing communications interns
The marketing communications internship is based at the Accelerated Genetics Administrative Headquarters in Baraboo, Wisconsin. In this position, the interns will be responsible for a variety of projects within the areas of public relations, written communications, print advertising, audio visual and web, as well as receive a broad-range of experience with all Accelerated Genetics programs and services. Again this year there will be two positions, one intern will be more dairy focused and one will be more beef focused.

The interns will be responsible for interviewing customers and writing feature articles for the company newsletter, as well as writing general news releases. In addition, the intern will represent Accelerated Genetics at numerous functions throughout the summer including conventions, dairy shows and young producer activities. Other duties include taking photographs and video, developing and designing brochures and various types of ads, and working on the company website.

Besides having an understanding of the dairy and beef industries, a successful candidate should be proficient in both written and oral communication and have some experience with desktop publishing software (ie. QuarkXpress, InDesign and Photoshop). Training will be given in all areas.

Genetic services interns
The genetic services interns will assist with photography efforts of the Accelerated Genetics’ dairy sires and progeny as well as hosting tours for international and domestic tour groups. They will receive a broad-range of experience with all Accelerated Genetics programs and services.

The interns will assist with locating and selecting progeny for picturing and tour groups; working with the photographic crew in the preparation of these daughters; host international and domestic tour groups; and coordinate travel itinerary.

Besides having a good understanding of the dairy industry, successful candidates should have experience with dairy cattle, knowledge of dairy genetics, and the ability to judge and fit dairy cattle. Additionally, good communication and computer skills are important.

This Internship is based out of the Administrative Headquarters in Baraboo, Wisconsin, but does require an extensive amount of travel. The majority of this internship will be spent within the Accelerated Genetics membership market (Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa) with the opportunity for travel in other markets. Home base destination is negotiable.

Sales & service interns
As a sales & service intern, individuals will develop skills in artificial insemination, learn about reproductive services such as estrus synchronization programs, as well as receive a broad-range of experience in all sales division positions and Accelerated Genetics’ programs.

These interns will provide relief service for assigned A.I. technicians, conduct market penetration studies and assist with retail sales routes. Other responsibilities will include assisting with sire and progeny photography.

A successful candidate should have an understanding of the dairy and beef industries and experience in handling cattle is required. Interns will be trained in A.I. breeding and previous sales experience is advantageous, but  not required.

Veterinarian intern
The veterinarian internship is based at the Accelerated Genetics Production Facilities in Westby, Wisconsin. This intern will be responsible for a variety of projects within the areas of animal health and husbandry, as well as receive a broad-range of knowledge on all Accelerated Genetics programs and services.

The intern will be responsible for a wide-range of tasks, including working with the herd veterinarian on special projects, animal health procedures, helping with blood testing, assisting with collections, helping with the processing of semen, and aiding in the filling out of paperwork and record-keeping.

Besides having an understanding of the dairy and beef genetics industries, a successful candidate should be proficient in handling of cattle and have some experience with basic animal health procedures. Training will be provided in all areas.
