Pfizer Animal Health and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) are now accepting applications for the 2011 AABP Foundation – Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Fund.
The AABP Foundation – Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarships are funded through a unique partnership with veterinarians, animal health suppliers and dealers. Scholarships are awarded to beef and dairy veterinary students to help offset the cost of veterinary school. In 2010, 29 students each received $5,000 scholarships through the AABP Foundation – Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Fund, for a total of $145,000 in awards.
North West Labs in Jerome, Idaho, is now doing business as AgSource Laboratories. One of the most comprehensive agricultural testing organizations in the U.S., AgSource Laboratories operates out of seven locations across the country, including: Jerome, Idaho; Umatilla, Oregon; Lincoln, Nebraska; Ellsworth, Iowa; and Menomonie, Stratford and Bonduel, Wisconsin.
ANIMART, Inc. will host beef and dairy cattle fitting and showmanship demonstrations for all youth at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 23, for beef showmen and Tuesday, May 24, for dairy showmen.
All youth are invited to these complimentary, hands-on workshops intended to help teach youth about the art and techniques of proper animal care, including grooming and showing. This will help to achieve high placings with their 4-H and FFA livestock at summer shows.
Pasture fencing will be the focus of the discussion at the next pasture walk scheduled for Wednesday, May 18 at the Nick and Luann Rolling Farm near Waterville, Iowa.
Rolling Valley Jerseys is home to 85 head of Jersey and Jersey-cross cows. The cows have access to paddocks daily to supplement their ration. Fencing is important to this operation. There will be a discussion on how electric fences work and how farmers can make them work better.
