Harrod’s Creek runs through a portion of the property, creating water conservation challenges. As part of the conservation efforts, Sylvia Bednarski voluntarily monitors water quality in the creek through Kentucky Waterways Alliance.

In addition to producing quality beef cuts for the local niche market, the Bednarskis showcase their operation to the public. Jon says, “The consumer wants to know what goes on behind our farm gates. We open our place to field days and other public activities. It’s not only good for ag communication to the general consumer, it’s also good marketing.” An “open gate” policy also gives consumers an opportunity to learn about conservation measures that engage cattlemen across the country.
